Corrected error. Please log in again.:

This error message occurs when the LinkMachine data file has been corrupted somehow. Usually it will only occur one time, and LinkMachine will replace the data file with a backup copy automatically, fixing the problem. If the backup copy is also corrupt however, this message will occur repeatedly and it will become impossible to log in to that LinkMachine installation.

To fix this, it's necessary to replace the LinkMachine data file (linkmachine.dat within your site's linkmachine directory) with a working backup copy that has not been corrupted. This can be done using an FTP client.

LinkMachine keeps several backup copies of its data file; these are their filenames:

linkmachine_prev1.dat
linkmachine_prev2.dat
linkmachine_prev3.dat
linkmachine_prev4.dat
linkmachine_max.dat
linkmachine_1hour.dat
linkmachine_1day.dat
linkmachine_2day.dat
linkmachine_3day.dat
linkmachine_4day.dat
linkmachine_1week.dat

It is recommended that you first download a backup copy of each of these files before proceeding.

Delete the file linkmachine.dat and rename the file called linkmachine_prev1.dat to be called linkmachine.dat instead. Next, refresh your LinkMachine login page in your browser. If it does not produce the error message this time, then the data file you have restored from backup works, and you can resume using LinkMachine. If you still receive the error message, try this again for the next backup file in the list above. Go on through each backup file until you find one that works.

Note that the larger the backup file, the more data it has in it. So your most recent backup, with all of your work preserved, is most likely to be the largest backup data file in the directory.

If none of the backup files work, we may be able to provide you with a recent data backup file for your installation. Go to the support page and select the option Retrieve LinkMachine data file.
