How can I have different link partners use a variety of different URLs, descriptions, and/or anchor text in their links to my site?

In many cases LinkMachine provides your potential link partners with the anchor text, description, and URL to use in their link back to your site. This includes when sending out link exchange invitation e-mails, when adding InstantLinks, and when a visitor submits a link through your site's link submission form.

Normally LinkMachine uses the information that you entered on the Site Settings page to determine what anchor text, description and URL it gives to your link partners. However, in some cases you may want some variety among the links to your site. For example if you are optimizing your site for a number of different search terms, it is useful to have some links to your site that use each of those different search terms in their anchor text. You may also want different links to point to a variety of different pages on your site, rather than having them all point to your home page.

This can be accomplished very easily with LinkMachine's Alternate Site Profiles feature, found on the SEO Settings page. By entering a variety of different site profiles (each of which includes a title, description, and URL) you can promote variety in the links back to your site. If you enter only one Alternate Site Profile, it will be used always (instead of the information under Site Settings). If you enter more than one Alternate Site Profile, one of them will be selected randomly for each link partner. You can even choose, for each Alternate Site Profile, whether it will be used in link exchange invitation e-mails, in InstantLinks, on your link submission page, or in any combination of these.

Another use of Alternate Site Profiles is to create non-reciprocal links (also called three way links or triangular linking). A triangular link involves 3 sites. Your site A links to your link partner's site. Your link partner's site in turn links to your site B. Because this type of setup does not result in reciprocal links between two sites, some SEO experts believe that search engines give these links more importance when determining rank.
