What kind of database does LinkMachine use? Am I able to download it and edit directly?

LinkMachine uses a flat file database stored in the "linkmachine" installation directory on your web server. Because of this, LinkMachine does not require MySQL support on the web server and there is no hassle of creating a MySQL database when installing LinkMachine.

For security, LinkMachine keeps backup copies of your link database automatically so that if the database is somehow lost or corrupted it can usually be restored. You can also download backup copies of your LinkMachine database to your own computer at any time by going to Change Settings, Backup Data and following the instructions under Download LinkMachine Data.

LinkMachine's link database is encrypted and so cannot be edited directly. However, you can download your link database as a .csv file which can then be edited in a spreadsheet program such as Excel. Links can also be imported into LinkMachine from a .csv file. This way, you can modify your LinkMachine link database in Excel, or copy your link database (or part of it) from one LinkMachine installation to another.

To export your LinkMachine link database as a .csv file, go to Change Settings, Backup Data, and follow the instructions under Export Link Data To .csv Format File.

To import links into LinkMachine from a .csv file, click on Add Sites To The List, select
Add the links from a .csv file and click Continue. From there you will be able to upload the .csv file.
